About Glenn Canyon Dam

Glenn Canyon Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam located near Page, Arizona. Construction on the dam began in 1956 and was completed in 1966, creating Lake Powell by impounding the Colorado River. The dam is 710 feet (220 m) high and spans 1,560 feet (480 m) across Glen Canyon. It is a major source of hydroelectric power and provides water for irrigation and municipal use in the surrounding areas. The area is also popular for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking. The dam and its accompanying bridge offer incredible views of the canyon and surrounding landscape, making it a popular spot for photography.
