About The Petrified Forest

Petrified Forest, Arizona is a national park located in northeastern Arizona. It spans over 146 square miles and is known for its abundance of petrified wood from ancient trees that lived in the area over 225 million years ago. The park also contains a variety of other geological formations and colorful landscapes, including badlands, mesas, and buttes. The area has a rich Native American history, with evidence of human occupation dating back over 13,000 years. As a popular tourist destination, there are plenty of opportunities for photography, with unique features such as the Rainbow Forest, Tepees, and Blue Mesa. Visitors can also explore ancient Puebloan ruins and view petroglyphs throughout the park. The Petrified Forest is designated as a Dark Sky Park, making it a prime location for stargazing and astrophotography.
