About the Photography
More than just a single shot
All the images featured are shot as large format using a special camera system which is similar to the way space images are taken. The main advantage of this
method is extremely clear and crisp images with no lens distortion or focus issues towards the edge of the image.
Careful research and planning is undertaken for each photograph as simply clicking once and hoping for the best will not work. Each final image is usually the end
result of many pictures blended together to form one super-resolution image. As you would expect, these images take a long time to produce with the additional
difficulty of heavy and cumbersome equipment which often makes it very difficult to reach isolated areas which require hiking.
Putting it all together
Once the final shot has been taken, all the raw files need to be processed and adjusted in such a way that the multiple images that make up one shot are all balanced in the
same way in terms of color and brightness. It generally takes about 5 hours to process all the raw files for one image. After this they are taken into a
software program to blend all the tiles into one seamless image. There are also 3 exposures per final image to ensure any over or under exposed images can be
later corrected in photoshop. Once the final image is ready, it is checked for any geometry errors that occurred in the stitching process and corrected if
necessary. Finally it is color corrected and various test prints are done to ensure color accuracy.
